As a key welcoming project for the 2023 World University Summer Games, the musical fountain at Phoenix Hill Sports Park became a brilliant landmark in Chengdu, captivating audiences with its extraordinary charm. Situated along the First Section of Beixing Avenue, it delivered spectacular audio-visual feasts for international guests and Chengdu citizens alike through its sophisticated design and technological integration.
Design Concept & Features
Dynamic Art Corridor: The fountain pool is arranged in an east-west elongated layout, ingeniously utilizing the spatial depth to enable water formations to flow as smoothly as clouds and water. This creates a dynamic artistic corridor. All water movements are meticulously choreographed to synchronize precisely with the musical beats, achieving the (shocking) effect of "water dancing to the rhythm, sound and water in perfect harmony."
Immersive Sensory Experience:
Auditory: Professionally selected international-brand audio equipment was arranged around the fountain, creating a surround-sound field with exceptional immersion. This ensured every piece of music was delivered with crystal clarity, powerful impact, and dynamic energy.
Visual: The system was equipped with 512 high-power underwater LED lights. Their colors and intensity transformed instantaneously with the melody and rhythm, perfectly synchronizing with the diverse water formations—such as grand water screens, elegant sways, and soaring jets—to create a breathtaking and dreamlike visual spectacle.
Engaging and Interactive Atmosphere: The musical repertoire featured a selection of familiar Chinese and international classics, along with Universiade-themed music, which greatly enhanced audience resonance. Located in a high-traffic area, the fountain attracted crowds who paused to admire the shows and enthusiastically captured photos and videos. It became a public art space for sharing joy and spreading the Universiade spirit.
Exemplary Execution Efficiency
The entire project was completed in just 35 days, demonstrating highly efficient teamwork and outstanding project execution. This ensured the fountain was presented in perfect condition to welcome global guests during the Universiade.
