The water screen is the core foundation for image presentation, its form and texture directly determining the clarity and ethereal quality of the image.

Projection equipment is the core engine of water screen movies and must overcome the multiple limitations of outdoor environments. Engineering-grade waterproof projectors are typically used. Some ultra-large water screen movies require multiple projectors to be combined to create a massive image spanning tens or even hundreds of meters. To mitigate outdoor light interference, projectors must possess a high contrast ratio (typically ≥10,000:1) and a wide color gamut to ensure vibrant colors even during the day. Furthermore, short-throw or ultra-short-throw lenses can be used to project large images within confined spaces, making them suitable for special locations such as lakes and rivers.

Image projection alone cannot highlight the depth of the water curtain. A lighting system is needed to enhance the visual tension:

Laser Lighting: High-powered laser emitters are installed around the water curtain. Highly penetrating green and blue laser beams create sharp, dynamic lines on the surface or penetrate the water curtain directly into the night sky, creating a three-dimensional effect that blends lines and surfaces with the projected image. When projecting an "underwater world," the laser beams simulate the movements of schools of fish. When the image switches to a "starry sky," the lasers transform into shooting stars across the screen, bringing the static image to life.

The immersive quality of water screen films relies on the "finishing touch" of sound effects. Outdoor waterproof line array speakers are typically used to ensure a clear, three-dimensional auditory experience regardless of the audience's location. Sound effects design must be deeply integrated with the visual content:

Narrative water screen films often feature custom narration and theme music. When an ancient warship raises sail, the soundtrack syncs with the sound of drums and horns and the crashing of waves.

Special effects water screen films replicate the film's original soundtrack, synchronizing explosions with the blasts of light and shadow on the water screen. This creates a resonant auditory and visual experience, greatly enhancing the sense of immersion.
